About Us
Meet our Board of Directors

William W. Gargaro, PhD | President
Mr. Gargaro holds a Bachelor of Science Degree, Masters Degree and Doctorate in Physics from Ohio University. He retired after working for 30 years in the aerospace science and engineering industries with Northrop, and TRW Aerospace Engineering and Science. Mr. Gargaro holds memberships in various scientific organizations. He also devotes his time as a volunteer for Red Cross Disaster Services.

Mr. Gargaro has been a member of HealthView, Inc’s. Board of Directors since 2001. He is committed to providing care and housing to the mentally ill.


Jim Olds C.P.A., C.I.A. | 2nd Vice President
Jim Olds is the Audit Director for the Port of Los Angeles, the nation’s leading container port and the highest-rated U.S. seaport operating without tax support. In this role, Olds leads the Port’s Management Audit section, which is responsible for the examination and evaluation of operating and internal control procedures to ensure effectiveness in achieving the Port’s fiscal objectives.

Appointed in July 2008, Olds oversees all audit services, while also serving as a liaison with the City of Los Angeles Controller’s and City Administrative Office. With his extensive audit experience in governmental, private industry, and public accounting, Olds is well-qualified to ensure compliance with Port policies, etc. Prior to 2008, Jim served as a Senior Accountant and Audit Manager/ Comptroller for the City’s Workforce Investment Network for the City of Torrance. He performed financial and performance audits, as well as financial reporting, at Torrance for ten years.

Before working for the City of Torrance, Jim spent six years as a Senior Accountant at Loyola Marymount University, and has held accounting and auditing positions with some of the nation's leading corporations, including Citizen Watch, McDonnell Douglas, and Deloitte & Touche.

Olds earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and accounting from the University of Southern California, and his Master of Science in business management from the University of Bath in England. He studied there under a Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).

He resides in Torrance and enjoys volunteer work, Rotary, soccer, hiking, skiing, travel, and all types of cultural activities.


Marilouise Huff, RN, BSN.MSN | Treasurer and Secretary
Ms. Huff received her Registered Nursing degree from Los Angeles Harbor College and Bachelor and Masters in Science in Nursing Degrees from California State University, Long Beach. She is certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner, and spent the bulk of her career as a Nurse Educator, at LA Harbor College, in Med-Surg andPsychiatric Nursing. Now retired , she has been a member of the Healthview, Inc. Board of Directors since 1987. Ms. Huff also serves on the Boards of the Palos Verdes Woman’s Club and The Riviera Church Foundation.

Robert Maxwell
Mr. Maxwell joined the Board on May 31, 2007, and is a retired English teacher from Torrance High School.


John Slaught
Mr. Slaught holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California. He is a retired real estate broker and general contractor and was CEO of J.R. Slaught Construction Company for 30 years. He is currently our board president. He has been a member of the HealthView, Inc.'s Board of Directors since 1983 and has served as its President for two terms. Besides his commitments on behalf of the mentally ill, Mr. Slaught devotes time to the St. John Fisher Catholic Church Ministries and served as a youth baseball coach. He is the proud father of 7 children and 12 grandchildren.
